APIs coming to Virgin Money Giving

As well as making Virgin Money Giving mobile friendly, one of the features we’ve been most asked for since we launched has been to open up public APIs, allowing charities, fundraisers and developers to build their own applications that make use of the Virgin Money Giving platform.

We’re very excited to announce that in 2013 we’ll be making a suite of public APIs available giving developers access to lots of functions such as:

	Create Fundraiser Pages – An API that allows fundraisers to create both individual and team fundraising pages.
	Fundraising page details – An API that provides additional details about a specific Virgin Money Giving fundraising page.
	Event Fundraiser – An API that returns a list of all the fundraising pages for a specific event on Virgin Money Giving.

A few of our member charities are already working with us to help finalise the features, and we’ll be making further details available in 2013. Whether it’s a totaliser for your website, a leader board of all your fundraisers in an event, a Facebook or Mobile App we’re really looking to seeing what creative applications they’ll be used in.

This is great news! I look forward to seeing the API release and hopefully being one of the first to get on board with using them to help make a difference.

I think it would be infinitely more valuable for everyone concerned if VMG would bother to match rivals justgiving but offering TEXT MESSAGE donation.

Hi Tom

We’ve been looking at all things Mobile, including SMS donations. However our focus for now has been on making sure that donations can be easily made from smartphones. Texting donations is something we’re still looking at but nothing we can share right now.
