Win a free place on Nightrider London a 100km moonlit bike ride – 8/9 June 2013

Night Rider London

If you’ve been inspired to get on your bike following the fantastic summer of cycling last year Nightrider™ London could be the event for you.

The 100km route takes in London’s major landmarks: Tower Bridge, a deserted ‘City of London’, Canary Wharf, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and more…. The circular itinerary is clearly sign-posted so you can cycle at your own pace. And there’s full support and back up around the course.

If you’re interested you can sign up on your own, with a friend or in a team. Choose from over 160 charities to support. For full details of the event and to select the charity you’ll ride for visit www.nightrider.org.uk.

But hurry! You’ve only got until the 10 May to be able to register to ride for charity.

Win a Place on Nightrider™ London 2013

Our friends at Classic Tours who organise Nightrider™ have one free place up for grabs. To be in a chance to win just answer the following questions and email your answers to nightrider@classictours.co.uk by midnight 7 May 2013:

  3. Which French city will host Nightrider™ this year?

By entering the competition you agree that the organisers Classic Tours may contact you by email about their charity challenges. You Picked them – Here’s your ultimate training playlist

Tweet your motivational training track. Help us build the ultimate #VMGPlaylist & win an iPod Nano

Last month we asked you to tell us what your motivational running tracks were to help us put together the Ultimate Training Playlist.

And tweet them in you did. We’ve collected them all together and added them to a playlist where you can listen to each track in full. Not every song was available on Spotify, but we’ve added on the ones that were. And of course every suggestion was eligible for entry into our competition to win an iPod Nano with Incase Armband Pro.

The winner of the iPod Nano, whose song was selected at random from all entries, is Laurence Carver @laurence_carver for his suggestion of The Mad Capsule Markets by Pulse.

And the prize for the worst selected track (and in much need of upgrading their running music collection) is Krystina Smith @kryssmith for picking Something Kinda Ooooh by Girls Aloud. Krystina will receive an iPod shuffle and £15 iTunes voucher to “improve” her music collection with some new tunes.

If you’d like to see all the entered tracks, you can view them on the 2013 Virgin Money Giving Ultimate Training Tracks Playlist. And if you don’t already have one, you can sign up for a free account and download Spotify here.

It’s not too late to start fundraising now either!

The first 20,000 fundraisers to create their Virgin London Marathon page and collect sponsorship will also receive a free exclusive kit bag.

Well done to you all, and to everyone who took part and raised money for charity in the Great Run series.

Information for charities – your fundraisers could win you a £2,012 donation

2012 has seen some truly inspirational sporting stories, from David Weir to Andy Murray, Richard Whitehead to Ben Ainslie.

But with all the excitement the downside we’ve all seen is that charities are really feeling the pinch. As people focus on other things charities have been missing out on essential funding.

To help with this Virgin Money Giving is offering three lots of £2,012 donation to charity. Any fundraiser on Virgin Money Giving taking part in an event or fundraising activity between October and December this year is eligible for the prize. They just have to have a Virgin Money Giving page, and have at least one donation on their page.

And it doesn’t have to be an organised event. We’ve seen fantastic stories of fundraisers abseiling, setting up cake sales in their offices and shaving their head to raise money for causes close to their heart. Any fundraiser raising money for charity in an event between October and December this year on Virgin Money Giving, and with a donation on their page will be entered into the draw.

Why not let your fundraisers know on facebook and twitter about the competition? Here’s the link; http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/make-your-mark-in-2012/

And we can even send out fundraiser flyers to you that you can send to your supporters. Just email us at help@virginmoneygiving,com with the volume and delivery address.

Win a £2,012 donation to your charity

There’s a whole host of fundraising events over the next few months – whether you’re taking part in an organised event, or tackling your own challenge you could win a £2,012 donation for your charity.

If you want to get involved but looking for inspiration just visit our site and take a look at the upcoming events. There are plenty to choose from. We’ve got people taking part in treks across the Great Wall of China, others walking a mile for charity, swimming the channel, dressing as Santa for a race, growing a moustache for ‘Movember’ and a whole host of other challenges. You can also contact your local charity and talk to them about what events they’ve got coming up.

And – remember you can set up your own event. Whether it be to bathe in a tub of baked beans, shave your hair off for charity, strap yourself in for a wingwalk, take part in a cake sale or any other fundraising activity. Any Virgin Money Giving fundraiser taking part in any fundraising between October and December this year will be in with a chance of winning. All you need to do is make sure your page is set up and you’ve got a donation.

For those of you already set to make your mark  this year who have signed up to Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, Run to the Beat, the Virgin Active Triathlon or any event taking place between October and November and you have a Virgin Money Giving page, then you’ll be automatically entered into our draw to win £2,012 as long as your page has a donation.

How will you make your mark  this year?

Make your mark in 2012

So far 2012 has seen many highlights and this iconic year will most certainly go down in history.

But with all the excitement the downside is charities are feeling the pinch. As people focus on other things, they’re missing out on essential funding – and they need your help.

Already this year we’ve seen thousands of remarkable people take on extraordinary challenges to raise money for charities close to them. From taking on the marathon, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, shaving their head, or pedaloing down the Thames. The difference every single fundraiser has made is huge! But there’s still so much we can do and that’s where you can help.

Whether you’ve already done something for charity this year, or plan to, we want to give you an extra reason to do something special .

We’re so proud of the efforts our fundraisers go to, we’re offering you the chance to win a £2,012 donation to your charity to make your fundraising count for more this year. And the really great news is there are three lots of £2,012 to give away!

It couldn’t be easier for you to enter – just set up a fundraising page for any event or personal challenge happening between 1 October and 31 December 2012 and we’ll automatically enter you into the draw as soon as you receive your first donation. (There’s a draw at the end of each month, so you’ll be included in the draw in the month your event takes place.)

Don’t worry if you’ve already got a page set up for an event during these months – you’ll be automatically entered as soon as you start your fundraising so you don’t miss out.

If you already know what you want to do as a fundraising challenge, why not set up your page today.

If you want to get involved, but undecided what to do, here’s some inspiring stories on what other fundraisers have been doing to raise money.

Go on, make 2012 the year you made a real difference!

Record a short film of your London Marathon experience and you could win!

Our friends at Virgin Money are running a great competition. Share your marathon tale for the chance to win £1,000 of camera kit for you and £1,000 for your charity!

Every one has a different journey to the finish line and they’d love to hear about yours after race day.

Tell them what inspired you to run. What struggles you overcame. What got you through those last miles. What it felt like to finish. Share something special or sum up the whole experience. This is your chance to tell your story. Record it, upload it and send us a link to it.

  1. Make your video – keep it short, no more than 5 mins long.
  2. Upload it to YouTube or Vimeo.
  3. Email a link to VLMshorts@virginmoney.com or tweet the link with the hashtag #VLMshorts.

You have to be over 13 to enter but you don’t have to be a marathon runner. So if you don’t want to make your own film, you could let someone else tell your story!

The Virgin Money panel will view every video and pick a winner.

Entries must be uploaded by 31 May 2012.

Terms and conditions apply.
