On your bike in Berkshire for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Ross Green and a host of cyclists are to take to the streets of Berkshire in a few weeks to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Ross started the ‘Tour de Berkshire’ in 2008, following the birth of his daughter Tilly, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis.

The event is now an official Cystic Fibrosis Trust Event.

This year’s ride will take place on 4 August and will start at the Queen’s Head Pub in Bradfield Southend, at 10am.

All are welcome on the planned route on the day.

The 20 mile route will cater for all abilities, taking in the best of the  Berkshire countryside – not to mention a few refreshment stops along the way. There’s no excuse not to come and join in on the riding.

The ride is in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and this is the first year that it has been included as an official Cystic Fibrosis event. We have gained more and more riders each year, but now we have the full backing of the CF Trust we’re hoping to smash our fundraising targets!!

We started organising charity rides with our friends in 2008 following the birth of my daughter Tilly, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis.

As keen cyclists we thought we could focus our hobby into something more worthwhile so the ‘Tour De Berkshire’ was created!

Since its launch it has helped raise over £11,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust. To sponsor the cyclists or to take part just check out our fundraising page.

Run the Great North Run for Cystic Fibrosis Trust

The Great North Run is fast approaching and Cystic Fibrosis Trust have got some places if you’re keen to run for them.

Cystic Fibrosis Trust will give you a place in return for your pledge to raise a minimum of £200 for the UK’s only charity working with and for over 9,000 young people affected by this life-threatening illness.

The world’s biggest half marathon takes place on Sunday 16 September starting in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and 13.1 miles later finishes by the sea at South Shields.

As well as your place, you get a Team CF running top, training and fundraising support, cheer bus on race day plus post run hospitality complete with masseurs.

If you already have a place you’re invited to join us too and we’ll ask you to please raise what you can for us.

Find out more details or sign up at www.cftrust.org.uk/help/events/gnr or call the Events Team on 0300 373 1100.

Entries close at midnight on Friday 20 July.

Meg’s story

Images of Megans head bieing shaved

I decided to shave my head for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and to show my friend Shannon how much I love her.

I wanted to raise £2,500 for the CF Trust so I had to do something dramatic – shaving my head seemed a good way to do it.

It was quite a big change because I had really long hair before – you can see the ‘before’, ‘during’ and ‘after’ photos on my virginmoneygiving.com page.

I decided to do it at school on the 12 February and I ended up sat in the middle of a room having my head shaved surrounded by loads of students cheering me on!

Actually everyone at school was brilliant and their support meant a lot – one Friday I raised £350 at school in just a day.

So far shaving my head has raised £2,285 and I’m still hoping to make my total target.
