Angus runs two marathons for same charity – 30 years apart

Angus runs 1981 London MarathonAngus McIntosh, 61, from Guildford is set to run this year’s London marathon 30 years after running it for the first time, to raise funds for Practical Action.

Angus ran the very first London marathon in 1981 and has since completed a further seven marathons including the New York and Paris events.

“I decided that there was one more marathon left in me and as it was the 30th London marathon coming up I thought it might be a nice one to go out on as I’d run the very first one. I really enjoyed the first London Marathon.

“I remember overtaking Jimmy Saville with his cigar and then being overtaken by a penny farthing and when I was about one mile from the finish line a man came past me walking!

“Hopefully I’ll raise lots of cash for Practical Action once again to support the work they do with poor communities around the world.”
