Yesterday we caught up with some of the celebrities who’ll be taking part in this years Virgin London Marathon.
Billi and Cara from The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) said that they had been training as often as they could, and that, if they made the finish line on Sunday they would definitely want to take part and beat their time next year. “We’re really revved up for the race,” Cara said. However Billi admitted that “Nothing can prepare you for this run.”
Paralympic Gold medalist Danny Crates admitted that during his time as a paralympian he had a ‘hate-hate relationship with the longer distance running.’ He said: “This is the one challenge that scared me more than any other.”
Iwan Thomas, taking to the start line for the third successive year had some helpful tips for the rest of the field on Sunday. “Try not to go too fast at the beginning – this was something I failed to do last year – and I even stopped off for a pint with some lads half way round.”
Sophie Raworth, needed a little help from the course medics at mile 23 last year, before finishing with a time of just over six hours. She admitted that her aim this year was ‘to finish in one piece.’
Watch out for them on the course on Sunday (but try to keep Iwan away from the beer)
