Monday night was the 20th anniversary of the Mind Media Awards to celebrate the portrayal of mental health problems in all forms of media.
The evening was hosted at the British Film Institute on the Southbank and was a fantastic celebration of individuals who have helped increase understanding and challenged the stigma of mental health issues.
This is the first year Virgin Money Giving have sponsored the event and it was a great eye opener for us into all the work that Mind and the Media do to help raise the profile for mental health awareness. You can find a round up of the best bits from our trending #VMGMindAwards.
DJ Scott Mills from BBC Radio 1 was the host on the evening. He has experienced mental health problems himself so these awards are very dear to his heart. Plus there was one category he was particularly keen on – Radio.
Scott’s summarised how he felt on twitter @scott_mills Honoured to be asked to host such an event. Some brilliant programme makers, journalists and incredible people.
It was great to see so many inspirational people, including some well known faces, present at Monday nights event. Frank Bruno with his daughter Rachel, Ruby Wax and presenter Matt Johnson attended to show their support. All are big advocates of ensuring mental health problems are portrayed in the right way in the media.
And of course the most important thing to report are the winners! The full list is here so feast your eyes.
Well done and congratulations to all the winners from Monday night, you should feel very proud.
