Jock Wright and Jonathan Hansford, founders of Student Adventures, say that “students are some of the most vibrant, can do and open minded people around”. It was this that encouraged them to start their business which aims to assist students to take on fundraising tasks that they might not otherwise have been able to afford.
The idea behind Student Adventures is that students can undertake challenges from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to cycling from Paris to London and they will help them achieve this with more realistic costs and achievable fundraising targets.
With the help of the Student Adventures, students and volunteers have raised over £2 million in the past academic year. It was this, along with the new partnership between Student Adventures and Virgin Money Giving as their official fundraising website, which helped the decision to hold the first ever Student Adventures Awards.
The Student Adventures Awards, sponsored by Virgin Money Giving, will take place at the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank, on Saturday 30 November. The awards which will be presented on the night include Best Fundraising Idea, Most Innovative Marketing and Recruitment Campaign, Adventure Leader of the Year and many more.
There will be live coverage of the event, just follow #VMGStudentAwards to find out the deserved winners.
