“A Marathon Runner isn’t anything without their supporters” if you agree with this quote then you’ll love our latest competition. We’ve managed to secure a money can’t buy prize for 7 lucky people who’ve been supporting you throughout your Virgin Money London Marathon training.

The first prize is a chance to see the course from the official Timex lead car followed by a comfortable seat in the Virgin Money Finishing Grandstand  to watch the rest of the race and you come sprinting across the line.  Plus, we’ll treat them to an overnight stay in London the night before the big day.

But that’s not all, the runners up prizes are 3 pairs of seats in the first ever Virgin Money Starting Grandstand. This is a real VIP experience, watching the elites including Mo Farah, wheelchairs and the thousands of amazing fun runners cross the start line for the run of their life.

To win one of these amazing prizes all you need to do is:

  1. Visit the Virgin Money Giving Facebook Page
  2. Tell us who you wish to nominate and why in the comments box.

The competition closes at 6pm Friday 21 March and we’ll announce the winners on Monday 24 March, so don’t forget to ‘like’ the Facebook page too to find out the results.

Good luck!

Over the last three years my partner battled with thyroid/lymph cancer, she has been a true inspiration to me in the way she has inspired others, so much so last year she was voted Ladies Circle Member of the year because of here true inspiration and the fact she carried on supporting others especially for the Butterfly Cancer Appeal . This year i am running my first ever marathon with my great friend Keith Bedford for Round Table Children’s wish…this will be the biggest challenge of my life for a great reason, but my inspiration comes from her, her name is Jane Smith an ordinary lady who has truly done some extraordinary things for other people including me. To have her enjoy the day with my running partners wife and be made to feel extra special would inspire me even more because without our supporters who are we? So i am a partner who wants to make his extraordinary lady feel very special………………………cant wait to make that difference for the children! Good Luck to all raising money regards Marcus Jones

I wish to nominate my husband. We’ve just been told he has to have an operation on his foot on 9th april. He’s devastated as even though he’s still going to come to London he wont be able to travel around London to support me at strategic points.
it would be an amazing gift to him for all his support of me for my 1st marathon to be able to join in and see me cross the finish line.

I would like to nominate my dad for this opportunity, he has been a supporter of my running for more years than i can remember, he was once a coach and trained some great young athletes. He also cared for my mum as she battled cancer for 2 years before finally having to say goodbye to her as it beat her. he then travelled across austrailia by motorbike to raise money for cancer charities. He has been my role model all my life. He is the best dad i could have asked for. He has also volunteeered to drive me to the start of the race to ensure that i arrive stress free and with plenty of time to prepare, He is simply the best dad. He deserves this opportunity

The one getting to the finish line (me) is just the tip of the iceberg for what was a wonderful team effort. Without Rami, Yaya and Nour tolerating my long week-end training escapes, without Christian covering for me and giving unconditional support and coaching, without the stinging pain of my dad’s loss to Alzheimer…I would still think that running a marathon was out of my league. Thanks team Miriam!!!!

Hi I would like to nominate by colleague, Peter Holden who has been very supportive since I got my place confirmed. He has kept me focused and helped me in my training in running and ran with me it has been hard but with his help I feel prepared. He has himself ran the marathon a while ago. This would be a great way for me to thank him in his support over the last 3 months in helping me to run. This is my first ever marathon and fund raising for a great cause. Peter is a keen runner and I know he would appreciate this.

    Thanks Jo

I would like to nominate my Mum and Dad as they are always my biggest supporters in everything I do.
The Virgin London Marathon is by far the most challenging task I have attempted and it would be very special
To see my amazing parents at the finish line. My Dad has knee problems and will struggle with the walking to come and watch me run. They are my heroes and have always taught me never to give up.
I love you Mum and Dadxxxx I know my 4 beautiful children and loving family will all be cheering me on to the finish linexxxx

I would like to nominate my 11 year old son Oliver, who is my biggest fan and supporter as well as my long suffering husband Jamie and daughter Madeline. They all put up with long absences for training and bear with me when I am tired and crabby from too much running. Oliver is a very keen runner with Forres Harriers and one of Mo Farah’s biggest fans – this prize would mean the world to him! This year I am using my ‘good for age’ place to support Maggie’s (the support centres for cancer patients). There is a very personal angle in this, as my 30 year old niece, Stephanie, is fighting a battle with melanoma. I have chosen to support Maggies for Stephanie, because, to quote Stephanie “often the support side to families as well as the cancer patient gets less profile as supposed to the research side, but its just as valuable.”

For my beautiful wife for giving me all the love and support with the training . I couldn’t have done it without you . I love you. Xxxxxxx.
