#charitytuesday: St Christopher’s Midnight Walk

Adding a little fancy dress to a fundraising event can make all the difference, adding an element of fun and helping to differentiate the event. That’s exactly what St Christopher’s have done with their charity Midnight Walk and why they’re the focus of this #charitytuesday.

The Midnight Walk is a friendly 5 mile walk, starting and finishing at the St Chrisopher’s Hospice in Sydenham on 10 October. It will be kicking off at 11pm and you can register either by calling 020 8768 4575, by visiting their website or emailing the team at midnightwalk@stchristophers.org.uk.

Georgina Grant, from St Chistopher’s Hospice tells us “The money raised goes towards our Candle Project. The Candle Project works with any child or young person in South East London who has experienced loss through death.  Last year Candle supported around 300 children; 45% of them had been bereaved through a sudden death.

Some examples of how the money raised will help the Candle Project include:

  • £100 – provides art materials for children’s groups, helping them to learn new ways to express their feelings
  • £150 – buys a selection of story books to give to bereaved children
  • £250 – funds four individual bereavement counselling sessions for a child
  • £500 – funds a group worker for three group day events.

So if you’re in London and free on 10 October, contact St Christopher’s to get your place and then set up your fundraising page, or to simply support the cause, visit their Virgin Money Giving page.
