Win a £200 boost to your Edinburgh Kiltwalk fundraising page

The KiltWalk launch

The Kiltwalk is a fantastic charity event which raises funds for the most vulnerable children and families in Scotland. Kiltwalkers can pick whether to walk 6, 13 or 26 miles and can pick the charity that their funds go to – so “whether it’s your local playgroup or a well-known children’s charity, Kiltwalk is here to help“.

There are four events in Scotland and – thanks to the way the Kiltwalk is set up – every single penny you raise goes to the cause you have selected. The Glasgow, Aberdeen and Speyside Kiltwalks have been completed, but there is still one more to get involved with; the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on 18 September.

As a thank you to all the amazing fundraisers doing the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, we have a £200 donation to a Virgin Money Giving page to give to one amazing fundraiser. All you need to do is set up your fundraising page and receive at least one donation, and you could be in with a chance of winning this boost for your chosen charity. Every donation to your page will count as an entry to the competition.

Ten Glasgow Kiltwalkers will receive a £200 boost

The KiltWalk launch

We recently ran a competition with The Kiltwalk to give one fundraiser a £500 boost to their Virgin Money Giving page. The winner of this competition was Scott McCloy. A huge congratulations to Scott and good luck on 24 April.

Together with the Kiltwalk, we are sharing the love and giving 10 Glasgow Kiltwalkers the chance to win a £200 donation to their Virgin Money Giving pages. Every single donation you receive on your Glasgow Kiltwalk Virgin Money Giving page will count as an entry to our competition so the more donations you receive, the bigger your chance of winning.

The Kiltwalk raises funds for the most vulnerable children and families in Scotland.

If you have already registered for the Kiltwalk, make sure that you have a Virgin Money Giving Page set up with at least one donation on it. If you have not signed up for the Kiltwalk yet, select your chosen event and then get fundraising.

For this competition, you must be participating in the Glasgow event on the 24 April, however there are 3 more events this year:

Big Steps for Little People

“Something special’s happening in Scotland  – and Virgin Money Giving is part of it.  The philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter has laid down a challenge for the current generation to eradicate child poverty.  And fresh from hosting George Clooney at the UK’s biggest business dinner in Edinburgh, he went to the National Stadium at Hampden Park to launch what will become the nation’s biggest participation activity; the new Kiltwalk .

And thanks to the backing of The Hunter Foundation, every penny, every pound raised by the walkers will go to help children in Scotland who need it most.  Sadly one in five here are caught in the poverty trap and Kiltwalk’s aim in 2016 is to raise more than £1.5 million.

So, we need you to sign-up, raise funds and walk.   When you register, you will go straight to your own Virgin Money Giving page and sign-up for the walk of your choice – either the full 26 miles, 13 miles or the wee walk of around 6 miles. Each event is an amazing experience with our team of Kilties and family and friends encouraging you along the way.  And at the end, there’s a Scottish party with food, a refreshment  and great music to celebrate your achievement..

The 4  Kiltwalks – always on a Sunday – in 2016 are:

We look forward to seeing you there – all you have to do is register now at the Kiltwalk website and join the conversation on twitter and on our Facebook page.”

The KiltWalk 2015

kiltwalk final 3 We were delighted last year to announce that we became the official fundraising partner for one of Scotland’s fastest growing charities, The KiltWalkThe event continues to grow, with more people walking, more events taking place and more charities being helped. The KiltWalk was founded in 2011 to help Scottish children from disadvantaged backgrounds, or who suffer from life-threatening illnesses, get the care and attention they deserve.  The charity does this by organising sponsored walking events which raise money to support a huge range of Scottish children’s charities. There are 6 KiltWalks coming up in Scotland, of various length:

and there are even KiltWalks overseas – including the Kiltiemanjaro KiltTrek. The KiltWalk is a fun, family friendly, colourful event and a great way to help some of the country’s most disadvantaged children. To find out more about the events, or to set up a fundraising page, visit the events page on Virgin Money Giving.

Virgin Money Giving; Official Fundraising Partner of The KiltWalk

Kiltwalk Girl

We are delighted to announce that we are now the official fundraising partner for one of Scotland’s fastest growing charities, The KiltWalk. The official announcement was made at Virgin Money’s Edinburgh Lounge in St Andrew Square last night.

Carey McEvoy, who is the founder and CEO of The KiltWalk, said “At a time when every pound is important both to charities and to the people who make the donations, we are delighted to be teaming up with Virgin Money Giving. Its not-for profit business model means a low two per cent commission compared to five per cent with other some online fundraising platforms. This difference equates to potentially £120,000-a-year to The KiltWalk and our partner charities.

Carey McEvoy founded The KiltWalk in 2011 to help Scottish children from disadvantaged backgrounds or who suffer from life-threatening illnesses to get the care and attention they deserve.  The charity does this by organising sponsored walking events to raise money to support a range of Scottish children’s charities.

Executive Director of Virgin Money Giving, Jo Barnett, said “We are privileged The KiltWalk has partnered with us at Virgin Money Giving and we look forward to helping the events to raise more vital funds in 2014 and beyond.

Carey added “Virgin is a brand that we will be proud to work alongside.
